Welcome to the 2025 Liverpool Hope University Fine Art Degree Shows. It is always a pleasure to see another group graduate from Liverpool Hope and to view the innovative and exciting works on display.

In the current world of diversely complex representational systems and information-rich visual landscapes, it is often difficult as an artist to know where to begin in the quest to find your own unique visual language. These students have sought to make artwork that is not solely a dialogue with the self, but a dialogue that engages with an increasingly complex, media-saturated and context-aware global arena whilst simultaneously seeking to engage and intellectually stimulate the viewer.

Students of Fine Art seek to communicate their ideas and connected research through a broad spectrum of media, which is at all times, underpinned by cogent research and innovative thinking.

The research conducted by students covers a diverse range of personal interests as well as both contemporary art and historical art legacies, which are crucial for their development as practitioners. The course aims to encourage and enable students to engage with various subjects and practices across the vast spectrum of Fine Art practice.

During the three years of degree study at Liverpool Hope University, these students have proven to be talented, motivated, ambitious and capable of approaching any given task or autonomous endeavour with confidence and from a research-informed standpoint.

In tutorials or group-based discussions, I always remind students of Fine Art that they have gained a place within the course because of their recognised artistic talent. However, talent alone is not enough, and to progress on the course and in later career endeavours, they need to work hard.

This group of students have consistently toiled in their studios and study spaces to forge artworks in a metaphorical fire of creativity. The range of methods produced by this cohort is reflective of a diversity in practice and experimentation that is actively encouraged by tutors from the outset of the Fine Art course.

The Fine Art cohort of 2025 has been a remarkable group, and we wish them all the very best of luck in their future career paths. We look forward to seeing what you do next. Additionally, academic staff would like to express our gratitude to the families and friends of our students for their support throughout their academic studies.
